The Exercise “UPPER CUT” was the first major exercise conducted in the Term II of the DSCSC Course No 11. It took student officers through detailed planning of a brigade level offensive operation in tutorial form followed by a TEWT (Tactical Exercise without Troops) and a reconnaissance to assess plans on ground. Exercise culminated with a RIC (Red Ink Correction), written estimate.
The endeavour of the faculty was to ensure that the student officers have fathomed the mechanics and concepts of writing of a formal estimate. Also the student officers were motivated by the faculty thus were made confident to think analytically when relating factors to be more realistic vis-à-vis heuristics.
